Important Notice Regarding Vaccines for Children (VFC) Services at Utah’s Community Health Centers:

Effective January 1st, 2012 underinsured* children will be directed by local health departments and other health care providers to Utah’s Community Health Centers for VFC services.

No other changes have been made to the VFC program! Uninsured, Medicaid recipients, Native American and Alaskan Native children can still receive VFC vaccine from any VFC provider.

Parents who seek VFC services from one of Utah’s Community Health Centers are encouraged to verify their insurance coverage and call their nearest Community Health Center prior to their visit. This will help reduce wait times. The centers may charge an administration fee for the vaccines.

Please see list of Utah’s Community Health Centers.

*Underinsured means that a child is insured by a health insurance policy that either does not pay for any vaccines, does not pay for certain vaccines (such as Hepatitis A), or places a cap on vaccine coverage that the child has already exceeded for that plan year. The vaccine coverage for that year must be completely used up before a child could be considered underinsured. Children whose insurance plans cover vaccines but have a high deductible are not considered underinsured.
