Enterprise Valley Medical Clinic (EVMC) is located in Enterprise and serves a rural area in the southwest corner of Utah. Without EVMC, patients would need to travel forty to eighty miles one-way for health care.

Unique Characteristics
EVMC offers primary and preventive medical, dental, and behavioral health services to all individuals regardless of social status, age, gender, race, or ability to pay.

EVMC also offers health education classes and workshops for patients. The clinic's current performance improvement initiatives include diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression, and obesity.

EVMC was accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) in the fall of 2000. The accreditation process increases the organizations ability to provide the highest quality services.

Preventive Medicine
EVMC's focus is to help their patients make healthier life-style choices as a method to control health problems such as diabetes, hypertension and other chronic diseases. The clinic stresses weight loss and smoking cessation through counseling and prescribing medications.

Additionally, EVMC has been emphasizing outreach with high school students to prevent at-risk behaviors, including alcohol abuse, promiscuous sexual activity, and tobacco and drug use.

Pharmacy
To increase access to pharmaceuticals, EVMC operates a Rural Branch Pharmacy, filling over 9,600 prescriptions annually. They will soon be opening a full service stand alone pharmacy to better serve their patients. To remove the economic barrier to prescriptions, EVMC offers discounted pharmaceuticals when necessary. EVMC actively assists individuals in accessing medications from pharmaceutical companies through the many patient assistance programs that are available. This effort yields medications valued at over $600,000 annually at no cost to the patient.
