The Green River Medical Center (GRMC) provides health services to eastern Emery and northern Grand counties in eastern Utah. There are no other health care providers within a forty-five mile radius. A helipad built to FAA specifications is located directly behind GRMC. The pad was constructed through a series of partnerships between the City of Green River, Emery County, St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, and the GRMC Board of Directors. Life-flight services can be provided 24-hours a day, 7 days per week. GRMC is staffed with a physician assistant, who is supported by a physician in Price.

Unique Characteristics
GRMC is vitally important not only to residents, but also to tourists. GRMC provides the bulk of emergency medical services for the well-traveled, isolated Interstate 70.

Quality of Care
In the fall of 2000, GRMC was the first Utah community health center to be accredited by JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Heathcare Organizations).
 

Health Care Outcomes
Since joining the Utah State Diabetes Control Project in August of 1999, GRMC has been able to establish a methodology for monitoring the medical care of their diabetic patients. Through the Control Project, GRMC will be offering educational sessions and materials to diabetic patients.

GRMC also continues to actively participate in immunization initiatives. In 2000, GRMC has continued to increase its immunization rates, which now average 95%.
