Overview
Wayne Community Health Centers, Inc. (WCHC) has been offering full-time primary health care services in Wayne County since 1978. Deep canyons and high mountains separate this service area from any other primary or emergency care provider for 60 to 120 miles. WCHC has built a strong reputation for the delivery of high quality services to this economically depressed and isolated area.

Unique Characteristics
WCHC is an essential part of life in South Central Utah. Patients travel up to 1 1/2 hours to utilize WCHC's services. Tourists visiting Wayne County also use the clinic for emergency care. To accommodate these medical needs, the clinic is open six days a week, with 24-hour emergency coverage seven days a week.

WCHC is the only community health center in Utah with a moderately complex CLIA and JCAHO certified laboratory. This lab increases patient access to diagnostic testing by eliminating the necessity of long trips "over the mountain".

New Developments
WCHC implemented on-site behavioral health services and dental services. In addition, WCHC joined with Utah Navajo Health Systems, Inc. to implement a radiation exposure screening and treatment program.
