Overview
Wasatch Homeless Health Care, Inc. (WHHC) was created in 1988 under the Stewart B. McKinney Health Care for the Homeless Act. WHHC operates the Fourth Street Clinic in downtown Salt Lake City. WHHC's medical team includes physicians, mid-level providers, medical assistants, and medical coordinators.
The Salt Lake medical community provides strong support to WHHC by providing over thirty regular volunteers and other on-site assistance, and over 125 volunteers at clinics throughout the county.

Unique Characteristics
WHHC partners with state and local health departments in the surveillance, control, and treatment of tuberculosis (TB) in Utah. WHHC supervises the housing of homeless people treated for TB and provides TB screenings for 100% of those seeking emergency shelter. All WHHC services are provided at no cost to the patient.

Private funding and in-kind donations comprises 46% of WHHC's total budget. Intermountain Health Care, Inc. is a major financial contributor for both in-kind and financial support.

  • Completed an expansion of the pediatric area, and expansions of specialty services such as the Ear, Eye, Nose, and Throat Clinic.
