In Memory: Arda Mae Morrell (February 7, 1939 - November 17, 2010)

Arda Mae Sorenson Morrell, age 71, passed away unexpectedly while serving as a missionary for the LDS Church in the Charlotte North Carolina Mission on November 17, 2010.

Arda Morrell quietly accomplished many great things in her life. She had a wonderful career at the Wayne Community Health Center. She and Malan Jackson were instrumental in getting the clinic going. In its beginning, Arda did it all: registered the patients, did laboratory tests, assisted the Physician’s Assistant and Doctors with procedures, took x-rays and did whatever else needed to be done. She was the Medical Director at the Clinic for over 23 years. She received numerous awards as the President of the Association of Utah Community Health.

Arda was one of the founding members of AUCH.  Luckily, AUCH was able to recognize her pioneering role at the 2010 AUCH Annual Meeting in April.  She is remembered fondly by the staff of AUCH as well as by her colleagues at the National Association of Community Health Centers. We will miss her and send our sincere thoughts to her family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center. Friends may attend a viewing Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm or Tuesday morning from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. The obituary can be viewed at http://www.webfh.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=337152&fh_id=10233.
