Government Affairs and Legislative Advocacy

The Association for Utah Community Health (AUCH) tracks, analyzes, and influences legislative and regulatory policies that impact medically underserved residents in Utah. AUCH advocates for policies that will increase access to health care for the medically underserved, including patients who are eligible for Medicaid, Children Health Insurance Plan (CHIP), Primary Care Network (PCN) and those who are uninsured or underinsured. AUCH also advocates for policies that will support Community Health Centers in their role as the medical home for the medically underserved in the state.

State Policy

AUCH works with the Utah State Legislature by tracking legislation, educating legislators, testifying before committees, and advocating on behalf of its membership. AUCH is also actively involved with state agencies responsible for various programs affecting the medically underserved. AUCH meets often with representatives from Utah State Department of Health to discuss issues, rules, and regulations affecting its membership and the patients they serve. AUCH also works closely with community organizations throughout the state to support efforts to increase access to healthcare for the medically underserved.

Federal Policy

AUCH communicates with Congress, the Bureau of Primary Health Care and other Health and Human Services agencies on behalf of its members. AUCH also coordinates federal advocacy efforts with the National Association of Community Health Centers ( NACHC ) located in Washington, D.C.
