The AUCH Tobacco Cessation Program offers culturally sensitive, affordable, and effective tobacco cessation treatment to the diverse patients of Health Centers in Utah.
In this population tobacco use is substantial; a clear association has been established Utah's low-income population and high rates of tobacco use. The AUCH program is designed to help Health Center patients who traditionally have limited access to tobacco cessation programs. It is proven that tobacco counseling, including the simple advice to quit, is effective in the primary care setting.
The AUCH Tobacco Cessation Program pairs counseling services through the Utah Tobacco Quit Line (1.800.QUIT.NOW) with quitting medication. Medications are free of charge to uninsured Health Center patients, and insured patients are able to access discounted medication through the Federal 340B Discount Drug Program.
The Health Center Tobacco Cessation Program is managed by the Association for Utah Community Health in partnership with the Utah Department of Health Tobacco Prevention and Control Program.
