Virtual: Zoom (link is provided upon registration)

SESSION OVERVIEW: Describing narrative medicine is not easy. For example, the words “narrative” and “medicine” seem to come from differing fields of study, yet combining them is essential to address many of the problems within our medical system. Many of the root problems associated with the social determinants of health (SDOH) can be better understood, and addressed, through narrative medicine. This session, led by Dr. Hailey Haffey, Ph.D, will provide the participant insight on how to use narrative medicine within their scope of practice. Utilizing these skills we can begin to bridge the gap between health care and the patient. Remember, every patient has a story that goes beyond the symptoms they bring into the doctor’s office and addressing them may be as important to the long-term outcomes of the patient as health care itself.
