Cervical Cancer Screening and Guideline Updates

Dr. Ward is Associate Professor (Clinical) in the Division of Health Systems and Community Based Care at the University Of Utah College Of Nursing. She received her Baccalaureate, Master’s, and Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Utah.

Dr. Ward will discuss the following components during her presentation:

• Review the current 2012 ASCCP pap screening guidelines
• Review the 2012 ASCCP abnormal pap management guidelines
• Discuss some emerging alternative pap screening strategies and controversies
• Discuss emerging European data on impact of wide population HPV vaccination on cervical cancer rates
• Recommendations for the busy provider for abnormal pap management and patient follow up
