Insights and Building Blocks from a Successful Federally-Qualified Health Center-Based Asthma Management Program

Community Health Centers are the ideal setting for treating high-risk children with asthma.  Today, 20 percent of low-income children with asthma receive care in community health centers, and CHCs will play a more important role than ever as many more children are covered under new health insurance provisions.

Our partners at the Merck Childhood Asthma Network (MCAN) are hosting a webinar on Thursday, February 20 at 12 p.m. ET on "Insights and Building Blocks from a Successful Federally-Qualified Health Center-Based Asthma Management Program." The webinar will explore challenges and opportunities from the Community Healthcare for Asthma Management and Prevention of Symptoms (CHAMPS) project.

This collaborative initiative is designed to demonstrate how tailored, evidence-based asthma management programs that have been proven efficacious in controlled trials  can be implemented in real-world settings where many children and families most in need get care. Presenters will include site investigators from three community health centers currently implementing the CHAMPS program, in Arizona, Michigan and Puerto Rico.
